About Sophia

Strength training built
for your body, your life.

Sophia Karamitos is a women's strength and conditioning coach at Complx Health, Mezzanine Level, 101 Moray Street, South Melbourne VIC 3205. She trains women one-on-one in a private studio, specialising in strength training, body recomposition, functional conditioning and beginner personal training. A significant part of her practice is programming for women through perimenopause and menopause, with a focus on maintaining bone density, lean muscle mass and energy through progressive resistance training. She trains complete beginners through to experienced lifters. Sophia's programs are coordinated with Complx Health's AHPRA-registered physiotherapist and senior myotherapist. Phone 0413 866 915.

Known for her supportive and empowering approach, Sophia helps women build lean muscle, improve energy and create long-term sustainable health outcomes through personalised strength training programs.

A significant part of Sophia's practice is working with women navigating perimenopause and menopause — designing programs that account for hormonal changes, bone density, energy fluctuations and the specific physical shifts that occur during this stage of life.

Whether you're picking up weights for the first time or returning to training after years away, Sophia meets you exactly where you are — building strength, confidence and capability at a pace that works for you.

Menopause & Perimenopause Coaching

Training smarter
through hormonal change.

Menopause and perimenopause change how the female body responds to exercise — but the solution isn't to stop training. It's to train differently.

Sophia designs programs that work with hormonal fluctuations rather than against them — addressing the specific physical challenges of this life stage through evidence-based strength training, progressive loading and intelligent recovery protocols.

"Training smarter" — not harder

Sophia's menopause training philosophy focuses on sustainable intensity, strategic recovery and movement patterns that support long-term bone and joint health — not extreme workouts that deplete an already taxed system.

What Sophia addresses
Hormone-Aware Programming
Programming that adapts to your energy, recovery and symptoms week to week, rather than a fixed plan that ignores what your body's doing.
Bone Density & Strength
Progressive resistance training is one of the most effective tools for maintaining bone density during and after menopause.
Body Composition Changes
Strength training and progressive loading to support lean muscle mass through the metabolic changes that come with hormonal shifts.
Energy & Recovery
Smarter training loads that improve energy levels rather than depleting them. Recovery is built into the program, not an afterthought.
What Clients Say

"Have been working with Sophia for the past months on 1:1 training and she is amazing. Great attention to detail on correcting my form and tailoring to my needs. She is able to push me to do more without going too excessive, keeping me motivated along the way. Sophia is knowledgeable, patient and fun to train with. Thank you!"

Alfreda  ·  Local Guide · 1:1 Personal Training

"I reluctantly agreed to start personal training 4 months ago. I met Sofia and she set a weight program for my age group (64) and I haven't looked back. It's the best I felt in a long time and I actually lost 10kg in the process. She is an amazing knowledgeable young lady and knows how to get the best out of individuals."

Sophia - FAQs.

No. A large share of Sophia’s clients have never done structured strength training before. Every program starts with technique and builds from where you actually are — not where a program says you should be.

Yes. A significant part of her practice is working with women through perimenopause and menopause — programming that accounts for changes in energy, recovery, bone density and body composition.

Your initial consultation runs 60 minutes and starts with a conversation about your history, your goals and anything you’re working around. After that, sessions are 1:1 in a private studio — a warm-up, a strength block programmed to you, and accessory or conditioning work. Sophia coaches technique throughout.

Strength gains usually show up within a few weeks. Visible body composition change typically takes two to three months of consistent training and eating. Sophia will give you an honest timeframe rather than a number designed to sell you a package.

Personal training is 1:1 — the program is built for you, the coaching is on your technique, and the pace is yours. Group classes are one session run for everyone in the room. If you’re new to lifting, working around an injury, or want programming specific to your stage of life, 1:1 is the better start.
